"The devotion by the College Tracks staff is amazing to witness, and the students are receptive and responsive to it. The students also appreciate the volunteers — there are many hugs and handshakes each session.. Many of these students have lived with upheaval, and early and continued responsibility. It is joyful to watch these students’ realization that their experiences are unique and admirable, and their ambitions within their grasp. Our society is made so much better — more civil, more diverse, more empathetic — by these students’ commitment to attend college. College Tracks helps ease what seems to them to be a daunting, perhaps insurmountable, first step."

Working with B-CC students on their college application essays introduces me every week to interesting, determined and impressive young people. It's a pleasure to help them bring their stories and their goals into clearer focus for an anonymous admissions officer — and I'm well aware that this kind of help can be critically important in the admissions sweepstakes that means so much for their future success.

Working with the diverse and lively population of teens who throng the CollegeTracks office at BCC is a privilege, an adventure and a delight. Helping these students imagine and perfect their college essays reminded me how much teenagers benefit from adult guidance and know how, and it reminded me how much we grownups are enhanced by the energy and hopefulness of teens. I am proud to be a volunteer in the College Tracks program and I am proud that my neighborhood high school birthed this big-hearted program.

No matter how interesting we think our own kids' stories are, the journeys and experiences of the students who voluntarily come to College Tracks are so much more compelling…they have figured out how to get the support they need, often without parents with the experience to guide them along the way. Their journeys, despite serious struggles make you feel so proud and humbled to know them.

College Tracks is a fantastic resource at B-CC for both students and counselors. The Counseling Department and College Tracks e work closely as a team to support students who need help navigating the often confusing and overwhelming college process.…There are so many students who have had wonderful opportunities that they never would have realized without the support and direction of College Tracks. Liz McLeod and her team are gems and B-CC is incredibly fortunate to have College Tracks to assist and support our students!!
Colleen Desmond, head, counselor, B-CC HS
B-CC's faculty, staff, families, and community work hard to ensure that every student has the opportunity to succeed in high school and be ready for their post-secondary educational plans. College Tracks ensures that our first-generation college students can take the next step, and have the same access to college as those students whose families understand the college admissions and financial aid processes. College Tracks gives so many of our students a reason to succeed in high school, as they can see that a university education is within their grasp. Because of College Tracks, no student at B-CC need be disenfranchised from the college process — and that is a powerful incentive for success.
